Thursday, September 22, 2011 - My first Billiot champagne and certainly won't be my last. This is a very nice rose that has an incredible amount of extremely ripe pinot fruit that almost comes out and slaps you in the face when you just put your nose up to it. The taste reveals an apple orchard with bright red apples - some of which have already fallen off of the tree. In fact, some would probably consider the fruit in this rose to be almost too ripe. It is very similar in style to the Camille Saves Rose, but the Saves has slightly better balance and is not quite as over the top as the Billiot. For people who love rich ripe fruit, you will not want to miss this rose. For others who prefer elegence and perfect balance, this might not be your cup of tea.
