Friday, October 12, 2012 - Pretty and pure. I was actually expecting this to be a fruit bomb, but it's anything but. It's actually very perfumed and airy, with lots of rosy floral aromas on top of the red fruits and a misty, cloud-like palate presence, pretty much the opposite of anything inky or syrupy although by no means light-bodied. It seems softly structured on its own but the tannins actually got more edgy with food, not the usual order of things but it showed there is some structure lurking in that mist. I don't know if this is worth the price premium for the Ponsot name as it runs over $100 and won't be mistaken for grand cru, but if you take price out of the equation it's an exceptionally pretty Chambolle.
