Saturday, July 21, 2012 - drunk with dinner at spruce. upon opening, still has an aroma of predominantly candied flowers and fruit (almost pastille-like) that overpowers everything else. with a couple of hours in the decanter this died back and red fruits, spice, and pepper began to emerge as the wine showed more complexity. the flavors were fairly reticent as well, but it really started showing some depth and complexity with spice, minerality, and herbs on top of the fruit after a couple of hours. i'd recommend a good 4 hour decant if you're going to drink this now. this has a lot of potential right now but it's not yet showing all it has to offer right out of the gate.
