90 Points

Sunday, September 15, 2013 - My experience with Rhys has been a bit hit and miss, but this was a very good bottle. No cola, no gloppiness, not green from the stems. Instead, quite a lot of ripe berry fruit that reminds me most of sweet black raspberries, with good balancing acidity. The stems add spice and a twiggy earthiness that gives the wine more complexity. The extraction is gentle but the wine still has a fair amount of density, although there's not much structure. The lack of structure suggests this may not be a long ager, but it's quite good right now.
