Saturday, July 18, 2015 - Decanted for just under an hour before tasting. Medium purple core, pink rim. Like the “En Haut”, this too displays a wonderful bouquet of black cherries, raspberries, dry soil, sea breeze and exotic spices. Impressive concentration and length, but (again like its stable mate) delivers a finishing burst of acidity that in my view threatens to compromise balance. Very nice with fatty barbecued pork chops – more demanding after dinner. Personally, I wouldn’t wait more than three years before finishing off these 09 Copains as there’s not a single molecule of sweet juice to spare – shedding fruit will quickly turn this into a fairly masochistic drinking experience.
