87 Points

Sunday, February 15, 2015 - So disappointing... I've had the 09 Sonoma before and it was popping and delicious. It was so good that I searched out more bottles. Acquired this one for $225 from Winebank.com. Nose was ok, but it was totally flat on the palette. Worst bottle of the night; was obviously supposed to be the best. Again, I may have been the victim of bottle variation.

2/15/2015 10:12:00 AM - I sourced two from the winery and had one in 2011 and rated it 94 points. I have found the KB wines seem to do their best at 2-3 years past the vintage as they settle down a bit but still have that primary fruit. I also noticed that their wine making style has become more elegant since their earlier vintages as I have been drinking these since 2003 vintage.
I've held my last bottle of the 09 Sonoma as I drank the 2010's and 11's as kind of an experiment in aging. With the tasting notes bouncing from mid 80's to mid 90's should be interesting and I will post a detailed note when I finally dig into the cellar for this one.
