Saturday, October 24, 2015 - Light ruby with gentle fading. Gorgeous, complex aromas of red fruit, camphor, fennel, grilled meat, and smoke. Medium weight, supremely elegant, silky feel. Perfectly ripe fruit that leans toward the red side, a dollop of green herb, well integrated acidity, and still some tannins to resolve. Great now, perhaps even better in another 5+ years when it will be ethereal, like an old Nebbiolo. This belies the notion of Hermitage being a strapping, masculine rendition of Syrah.
