Saturday, July 2, 2016 - Light ruby core with gentle fading. Ah, Chave-all about complexity and the inextricable interplay of the aromas and the palate. At once, charcoal, tobacco, dead leaf, and strawberry. Incredibly supple and harmonious right out of the decanter without a trace of over extraction or overripeness in this big vintage, excellent mineral finish with faded tannins. A wine without any jagged edges at all. Interestingly, the fruit seems to support everything else going on here rather than the other way around. Absolutely beautiful and bound to stay at this peak for a good long while.
