2010 Château Léoville Barton

Community Tasting Note

Friday, September 13, 2013 - Tasted at “Mövenpick Tour d'Europe 2013”. The wine was dark purple in colour and offered shy aromas of mixed berries, black currant and subtle oak (chocolate/cocoa, coffee) on the pretty tight nose. On the tight palate the wine was light- to medium-bodied and very elegant, with shy red and dark fruit flavours and some graphite, paired with medium-plus acidity, medium-plus to high fine, ripe tannin and incredible length. The wine was very closed today, much more closed than at a tasting less than half a year ago. It will require a lot of patience, but even as closed as it was today it was obvious without a shadow of a doubt that the wine is destined to be great. There is no point in rating this wine now, but I am positive that it will score 93 – 96 once it hits its prime.
