Tuesday, April 12, 2011 - Emeliana Wine Tasting at Gervais & Vine Columbia, SC: Of all the red wins we tasted through from this producer, this is the one that probably would benefit most from a little bottle age. It was slightly tight and a disjointed. It had a touch of that sour milk acidic taste. Emiliana has found a way to reduce those green tea and coffee grounds flavors and aromas. This is no exception. They also tend to have Carmenere as their majority grape in their blends. But still, beside this one, all were basically ready to drink. I always like wines that smell like violets. There is also some dark cherry on the nose. Very dark color. Refined tannins, with an ever so slight aftertaste. Some plum fruit and mocha on the finish.
