95 Points

Friday, April 3, 2015 - Tasted blind at the Domaine, 1999 DRC RSV was immediately striking as its aromas of raspberry, black cherry, cinnamon spice, coniferous forest and violets burst from glass. Formidable tannic structure lurks behind the wine's deeply layered flesh—so much so that in my inexperience I thought it might be a Richebourg! This wine is really a good decade away from prime-time drinking, and a great wine indeed; but recent vintages are noticeably more structurally more refined.
