Tuesday, December 1, 2015 - Westchester Wine School: USA Pinot Noirs (White Plains, NY): Drank at WWS pinot tasting-my contribution to the list of wines this eve (my last bottle of Cristom, unfortunately). Solid ruby color, some bricking but the wine looks like it's aged quite slowly. More earth than fruit aromas on the nose, as expected. There's some red fruit here, but mostly tertiary elements here: forest floor, some spice, a bit musty, and definite notes of black tea. Surprisingly, still fairly tannic. Overall, this wine's a bit past its peak for sure (fruit has faded) but the wine has developed in lovely fashion and turned out to be quite a nice surprise. Voted WOTN, though not vs. the stiffest of competition in my opinion.
