Saturday, December 6, 2008 - Blind California Cabernet Tasting: This wine had us all confused. Tasted as part of our blind Cali Cab tasting, it had a very similar nose to Wine No. 1, which turned out to be the 04 Corra and Wine No. 8, which was the 95 Shafer HSS. After all is said and done, most people ranked this as the top wine of the night, with everyone placing it at least first or second. New world style. Very impressive nose. Best nose of the night, that is for sure. Some floral notes, oddly enough, but huge red fruit nose with deep red color. A very concentrated wine that filled the mouth incredibly well. Full and rich with big bold fruit, both red and blue with brown sugar and syrup. A nice long finish. Very smooth with well integrated tannins. Probably an ideal time to drink.
