Saturday, March 2, 2013 - Decanted - quite a bit of sediment had settled after standing the bottle up for a day. Nose of cherries with some leather and a little barnyard, which blew off quickly. After 30 minutes of air, this was ready to go. Sour cherry, leather and mushroom on the nose. Red cherry, herbs, and some cocoa on the palate. Very well balanced acidity with a smooth, medium finish. This is a big wine with strong tannins that I would want to drink with food. Paired very well with our porterhouses and porcini pappardelle.
