Friday, June 6, 2014 - Firstly, I do not like Caymus. That will offend a lot of folks. The 'regular' has a distinct Play-DOH! taste to me. This Special Selection. however, was the perfect pairing for some ribs with a very light barbecue sauce and gruyere/mild jalapeno mac and cheese with a touch of bacon.

This bottle of Special Selection was just old enough to let out some vanilla, cherry and a hint of blueberry and had just enough cedar to take the edge off. I drank this bottle too early - it could stand another 3-4 years lying down in the cellar based on tannin balance. This one was also a gift and now I'm tempted to buy more, violating my own "no Caymus" rule.

7/2/2014 2:19:00 PM - I understand having a "No Caymus" rule. I have a "No Grgich" rule. I don't care how amazing his wines were in the Judgment of Paris. But glad to see that you found this wine to be the same beauty I did. I still haven't come across a Grgich I like...
