Thursday, February 7, 2013 - So this bottle didn't get too long of a decant, only a few hours, since I really wanted to drink another bottle of this but didnt think very far ahead :)

I'm not sure why, but this bottle seems better right out of the gate than the last one I had. Perhaps it was the fact that I was looking forward to it so much, or the last bottle was slightly off, or it's just me, but this bottle is really good tonight.

Pretty consistent with my last note, just bigger, more defined, and smoother than I remember. The barrel flavors disappeared fairly quick in the decanter, and what shows up are all sorts of things; big black fruit, smoked meat, pepper, butternut squash, flowers, vanilla cake, nice acidic tang in the finish. Quite balanced....big but graceful, and does distinctly remind me of a SQN Syrah.

Also opened this to celebrate receipt of my first Lillian offer after a short wait for the mailing list!
