Monday, April 22, 2013 - As a Chinon/Beaujolais kind of guy, this wine was far out of my frame of reference, but after three nights, I came away really impressed. Upon opening, the vanilla, oak, alcohol, and massive sweet fruit just overwhelmed my palate. Stashed it in the fridge for a day and things started to settle down, with spices and floral tones emerging from behind the dark fruit. By day three, this had become something much more balanced and beautiful, with some real finesse accompanying the underlying power. Lesson learned: let this sleep for a good while longer, and it'll likely have lots more in store.
