89 Points

Thursday, December 12, 2013 - The color was deep black opaque. Unless you looked at the edges of the glass you would thing it was ink and not wine. This is usually an indication of the high tannins and low acidity. The double decanting and aerating really helped burn of some of the tannin kick in the face. In two minutes we had the equivalent of an hour or two opening. It was grabbing the glass well but not what I would call sticky. On the nose, licorice and big dark fruits came to mind. Plums, cheeries and bit of an earthy dusty smell. In the mouth you could tell this was a sturdy wine. Chewy and big bold fruit, again plums, currant, a touch of cinnamon and a first form me, an almost marmalade essence to the after taste. It was not as acidic as I would have expected.

Overall a very nice Cab. With time it should mellow and become even better than the 89 I would score it today.
