Sunday, February 16, 2014 - Drank at the Goldsteins after finishing off a 1996 Chambolle village wine--that was shockingly well-preserved. I tasted this wine from bottle and found it very tight at first, so we decanted and let it sit for 30 mins, after which it opened beautifully. Ruby red color not showing much age, if any. Nose of red cherries & spice. Lots of red fruit--cherries and strawberries, along with spicy notes and some earth. Good structure, nice complexity. The wine was surprisingly youthful &, even though it was quite enjoyable, I fear I opened it a few years too soon, and this is my last bottle!
