Thursday, January 31, 2013 - Magenta-ruby in colour. Impressive purity here - this really is terroir in a bottle. Juicy fresh cherries, red summer berries, tobacco and vegetal elements/undergrowth are framed in a taut, but very approachable, acid-based structure. Palate is minerally, yet plusher and rounder than Le Domaine and the dusty tannins add good grip to the moderately long finish. A lovely, young, "cru" Chinon that exemplifies purity and elegance - all expressed without artifice! Although young, this is approachable now with a decent airing - but promises much more in the next 10+ years.
