Friday, December 9, 2011 - 13.5% alcohol. This was a surprise. Bright red color. Fragrant nose of raspberry, minerals, and spice notes. In the mouth, very elegant and refined, with a peppery raspberry fruit that is compelling and tasty. This might not be the most complex wine, but it sure delivers pure Grenache flavor -- and that's something almost no wines from California do. This avoids any notion of being too ripe. It's a terrific example of purity for Grenache, and for that alone it's notable. A-
