Thursday, August 29, 2013 - International Cabernet Day, no slouches allowed. Boy was this a rocking good wine. Sat in the decanter for an hour and drank over the next two.
Big ripe blackberry, pencil lead and some cocoa on the nose. Mouth coating rich, blackberry pie, white pepper and blood orange. A nice acid lift along with more rich fruit, spice and firm tannins on an extended finish. Signature Mike Smith, comes at you from every direction and doesn't let up. This was a major baby killing but Mikes wines are so delicious when they are young that I don't feel so bad about the infanticide.
