90 Points

Friday, March 9, 2012 - $20, really? Quite a wine here, modestly firm but very accessible. Bright red fruit transitions quickly through blue to a suddenly deep dark fruit tone, with notions of campfire smoke, and subdued earth. A prominent backbone of minerality running through this one that at times has a saline tone on the finish that really does give the impression of licking salt from a smooth stone, albeit berry flavored. Very well behaved tannins, which just makes the already great balance even better, with med strong acid to compliment. Full bodied but behaves with the verve you expect from a moderately high acid/low alcohol syrah. Maybe it is because I've been uninspired lately, but I dig the integrity in both this bottle and the vineyard, it shows great character with a deft hand and some definite interest points. Great solo, great w food. Highly recommended. 90-93
