Friday, November 5, 2010 - Goddamn!
To me this is what great Syrah is all about.
Such a big and great pure wine this is!
Huge, dark, deep, with the smoked animal tones, tar, cigar/cedar, the finest booth black & white pepper, anise and the barnyard and souse-bois complexity thing that only a truly great wine can deliver.
Such a great nose!
Very straight forward juice, but on the other hand still as complex as a woman.
On the palate the fruit is deep and full and darker than a solar eclipse.
Earthiness and concentration and layers of deepest, most beautiful fruit came in waves.
There are traces of the hot vintage, but not at any point disturbing.
Such beautifully toasted expensive oak bariques this wine has spent it’s 42 month in before being bottled.
I almost lack words to describe this wine.
It has so much of everything going on, and for so long.
