Thursday, July 24, 2014 - Now we're talking!
Previous btl was just a fail. This one's cork also leaked: one tinge meandering its way along the poor cork's surface all the way to the top of the btl. Happily enough, this wine sang!
Enticing light yellow color with striking purity. Makes the Chablis BEAST in me wanna devour!
A rich nose with caramel, Piggelin popsicle, wet stones, small oak and earthy loam with sprouting grass. Chard allowing its smiley face. Non-typical but profound.
On the palate we are talking: up-beat acids on a slightly dis-balanced trinity of fruit-acids-intensity. Effable. Quaffable. Enjoyable. Expensive. Chardonnay typicity galore. Minerality everywhere. Long, lingering, transparent and beautiful. My only concern is the lack of concentration and the earthy finish that subtracts with its muddy unclean end-twist.
(Wife: frown...)
One more btl to go, in 2-3 yrs time. The only btl of our three that had a perfect fill. Even if this wine will definitely last longer, but prem-ox is not desired and, in all honesty: feared for.
(Pst: In NZ they make them at half the price as THIS wine's price was just simply outrageous...)
