Saturday, January 24, 2009 - Light yellow with a typical glint of green. The nose is all sea breeze and iodine, not about the fruit at all. For a brief moment right out of the bottle, there is a rich brothiness, but this quickly recedes to reveal a pure, lean, linear expression of Chablis. With time, it does pick up a little weight, blood orange, and very subtle sweetness of fruit, but the bracing acidity remains at the very core. Tremendously earthy rather than mineral finish. I just loved the precision of this wine and the fact that it was unencumbered by the somewhat oily fruit of '06 and the botrytis of '05. While still young, it is showing beautifully right now.
