Wednesday, April 9, 2014 - The last time I had one of these was from mag, a bottle I opened from my cellar back during Falltacular a few months ago. I remember that bottle and it didn't wow me, although I'll admit that was after a day of entertaining and questionable palate I may have used! The bottle in focus here I opened last night, left it in the fridge to stay cold. Drinking now, what I enjoy about this wine is the marine-like aromatic, bit of that sea air thing. What I find boring is the palate, as it just falls off, it's kind of dead. Yes, there is some nuance of sea shell, lemon rind and honey, but all of it is a bit muted and there is IMO a lack of cut in this vintage of MdT. In contrast, a 2010 Michel Forets I had a few weeks back was quite the contrary and I only wish I would have doubled down on those, leaving this MdT for someone else. Bad wine? No, not bad but just lacking the complexity and energy of that Forets, and some of the better 1er Chablis I have enjoyed in the past year. I have two of these MdT left, will drink them over the next year or two.

4/10/2014 2:04:00 PM - A boring Michel?! Uh oh. I just picked up some 2011 Vaillons. I was hoping to pick up more 2010 Sechet but this was all they had. I didn't check CT and was a little surprised when I got home to see a comments on the lack of cut in it too. I'll have to open one soon to see. I've not had the Michel Montee de Tonnerre or Vaillons yet.

Good to hear from you, buddy.

4/10/2014 3:21:00 PM - Frank, just went down to the cellar to grab what I thought was a 2011 Vaillons but turned out they were 2012. Only one tasting note on the 2012 which says its tight with lots of acid. I'm going to wait a bit on them and will try to open a 2010 Sechet tomorrow unless Ann wants a red.
