Saturday, April 13, 2013 - Aromatic - cool berries and cherries, black pepper, raw meat, tar, dried flowers. A bit austere on the palate, with firm tannins dominating the fruit, and a good amount of acidity too. But the fruit makes it to the finish, where it lingers along with dried flowers and a good dose of minerality, more than a touch bitter.

After a few hours, the fruit is more open and prominent and quite tasty, but the tannins are still raging and the minerality has become even more serious with almost tongue-numbing iron. At its best with food, but this is quite enjoyable even on its own - if you don't mind the tannins and bitter iron finish - with delicious fruit, good acidity, and real meaty-tarry-floral-mineral depth.
