Saturday, April 21, 2012 - Medium yellow cloudy color. Perhaps unfiltered. Gala apple and vanilla on the nose. Very mellow oakyness, born in the USA style Chardonnay. A faint whisper (that disappeared day 2) of butter and caramel on the finish. OK, but not exceptional especially at this price point. Too many Chardonnay producers in California charge way too much for there wines, setting very high expectations and wind up disappointing. Found the $17.00 2010 Domaine de l'Aujardière Chardonnay Vin de Pays du Val de Loire from Eric Chevalier and the $12.00 2010 Kendall-Jackson Vintners Reserve both more interesting and enjoyable. Disappointed, especially at this price point. Day 2, some fading. FYI - this review was done by 3 wine drinkers and everyone concurred. This was highly recommended at a wine shop that was 40 miles away. If they were closer, I would want a store credit. update, turned out the store had a closer location. They were happy to give me a credit. Was surprised that I paid $42, not $35 for this.
