Wednesday, December 25, 2013 - Decanted at noon for my GF and my Christmas dinner at 5pm.
When I first opened the wine at noon, I gave it a quick taste to make sure all was ok. It reminded me of the two other bottles I've had over the last several months after RP's 100 point rating came out. I assumed all was well and my GF and I would have a special treat for our Christmas dinner.
After the 5 hour decant, we poured the wine, enjoyed our meal, company and conversation. Over the course of the hour the wine was open and we were enjoying our meal, each additional pour of the wine brought each of us wondering what was going on. By (small) pour 3, each of us realized the wine was slightly corked. Subtle at first, it became more and more pronounced as we worked our way through the bottle. We ended up dumping the last glass and a half of the bottle.
Thankfully, I sill have 4 more bottles of this excellent offering to enjoy on future days.
