Friday, May 16, 2014 - Bottle variation, and near flawed. It may have been that my palate was overtaxed and I didn't catch it. This one, number four of six, was sharply, oakily acidic, making it unattractive to sip. I would characterize the 2010 Mt. Carmel as an unreliable bottling.
Even when a bottle of this is outstanding, as this wine can sometimes be, the thick, plastic "wax" seal must be pried from the bottle in stubborn shards, and with some effort and mess, before accessing the cork. The ultra-hermetic seal seems to have no agency in ensuring consistency from bottle to bottle.
