Sunday, July 26, 2015 - This is my first of the 09. It is better than the 08 and reminds me of the 07, which was great. More integrated and balanced than previous. Needs at least two hours of decanting to pull it all together. Deep dark garnet color with a floral, strawberry nose. Lots of oak here but the finely extracted fruit will balance that in a couple years. After a couple hours this became rich, luscious vanilla, mocha, plum and dark cherry. Yes it's hot when first opened, but I like that. It mellows nicely through the evening allowing the fruit to pull huge. So glad I have more of this.
