94 Points

Friday, September 14, 2012 - Popped and followed over several hours. Shy nose compared to the ’09, with spice and currants. Clean, polished, and highly structured palate. Very fresh, concentrated fruit, with a slightly brighter profile than ’09, and lacking any blue fruit. Spice, flint, mocha and earth on a long finish. Lots of dry, but fine polished tannins. Tons of fruit here, but behind a massively structured wine. Hangs on the palate for a long time with lots of complexity adding a coffee note, but much less “easy” to drink now than the ‘09. Little hedonistic pleasure now, but great freshness, poise, and polish. Could be incredible in 5+yrs, hard to pin down now. If this is a “modern” styled ’10, it should be an incredible vintage. Future score 95+
