Saturday, March 16, 2013 - Decanted for about an hour prior to drinking. Almost no sediment. Very dark color. There is lots to like about the nose, and it changed quite a bit over the several hours consuming it. Lots of berry concentration along with sage and rosemary. High strung at the beginning, and it mellowed a bit over time. On the mouth this wine is quite astringent and tightly wound up. There was not as much fruit concentration as I was expecting, and it's clearly still coming together. It's a little backward now, with high tannin and acidity, and the fruit concentration hiding behind. High alcohol (15.5%), but that was largely concealed. Not seeing much yet in the way of secondary flavors and smells quite yet. With the concentration, tannins and acidity this wine should age tremendously and develop quite a bit. Still a baby, but interesting to taste at this stage if you have a few bottles.
