2004 Baron de Ley Rioja Gran Reserva

Community Tasting Note

Tuesday, March 19, 2013 - Black cherry, plum and strawberries on the nose with meat and iron as well as vanillary oak, dill, leather and coffee.
Fullbodied and smooth on the palate with some tannins gripping a bit. Chewy palate with ripe red to dark Tempranillo fruit, iron-like notes, tomato purée, vanillary oak and slight herbaceousness. Lengthy finish with slight volatility.
Pretty nice modernish Rioja - though ideally I'd like to see more structure and less of both oak and ripe fruit. Drinking well already.
