Sunday, January 20, 2013 - My intro to this wine. Friends have been recommending it as a solid value pinot noir. Red fruit and vanilla on the nose. Big black cherry fruit on the front of the palate. So much so, that the wine seems as if it has residual sugar, although it is dry. The vanilla from the toasted oak is also overwhelming. Enough of my negative observations... nice mouth-feel with a silky texture that persists. Wine has some character for this price point, with a textured mid-palate and a long finish, albeit of cherry cough syrup. I wanted to really like this wine. It had some interesting complexity for a pinot in this price range. It would be better as an apperitif, or with a spicy white meat dish.
