2010 Two Shepherds GSM Russian River Valley-Livermore Valley Red ($32, 13.8%): A tiny production from Sonoma's William Allen shows the subtle side of blending, here one-half Grenache and equal parts Syrah and Mourvedre for the rest. (The first two from Saralee's Vineyard in Sonoma, the last from Livermore.) A fine case for Russian River Grenache, with an oregano accent, plus sandalwood and delicate boysenberry fruit. Juicy and invigorating.
