Friday, May 30, 2014 - Very distinctly Chilean on the nose and palate. A full 4 years off the vine, and even after a 2 hour decant, shows a youthful, spicy rusticity typical to Chilean Cabernet grown on ungrafted rootstock. Moderately dark red color with an emerging light magenta rim. Some green vegetable on the nose with wet tree bark, charcoal and spicy black cherry. This is a value wine with medium plus body, modest, but mostly correct red fruit first like charred raspberry, then spicy blackberry. Fading a little as we drink down the glass. The acid and tannins are just starting to let some fruit shine through. Not for everyone's palate. Would easily tame a ribeye steak.
