90 Points

Friday, January 25, 2013 - Color: Pale straw.

Nose: At first quite a bit of diesel. As that starts to recede, the fruit come out, with delicate and then assertive aromas of peach, pineapple, and asian pear. As it warms in the glass, it begins to take on a sweet floral character as well, like gardenia and fresh vanilla, and a little bit of bubble gum / cotton candy. All very nice.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and slightly oily

Palate: Ripe and fruity (apple, pear, pineapple) on the attack with a little pop of sweetness, then mineral and petrol. The acid kicks in on the finish with a lemon and lime juice tartness and even a hint of saline. Quite lengthy, too, leaving behind citrus and just a brush of sweetness.

Not a fine-boned feinherb, this wine has some meat on it but is still well balanced, pure, and nicely expressive on the nose. Good riesling with high delicious factor and concentration, and a great value. I expect it to keep improving for some time.
