2010 Domaine Dujac Morey St. Denis

Community Tasting Note

87 Points

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 12 th Burgundy tasting - Reds part 2 (Rotterdam, Netherlands): Tasted Blind, The core is medium intense ruby here, but more dense compared to the previous wine. On the nose, we only get some lightly intense impressions of black fruits over a brooding gamey base. While medium-plus bodied, there is a certain grip to the otherwise well-polished medium tannins which steers me towards the more rustic terroirs. On the extracted mid-palate, not quite pronounced youthful acidity is buffered by good sève in the form of medium-plus intense black and sour cherry flavours. The finish too is quite pleasant for about 20-25 seconds and adds some chalky mineral content plush stemmy spices, which makes me guess a 2010 Morey or Nuits village wine of some pedigree. It indeed turns out to be Morey-Saint-Denis 2010 – Domaine Dujac and I can spare 87 points for this wine. Its balance is sufficiently good to inspire confidence about the medium-term future, so this village may well pick up one or two more points provided its structure integrates and it develops additional complexity ........ ......
