100 Points

Wednesday, June 10, 2015 - Annual DRC tasting dinner in Stockholm, to check out the 2012’s.
Since one of the two La Tâche 2012 bottles opened tonight was corked (first time I have experienced a corked La Tâche) a bottle of 2010 was opened as “compensation”.
I have had this wine before, and it is without any doubt one of my top three wines, ever!
Last time I had it was 1,5 years ago, and this was surprisingly developed since then.
The color showed a much more advanced color than I would have ever expected, almost as if it was 10 – 15 years older than it is.
I perhaps guessed that this should be much less expressive and open than it showed.
The nose is to die for, with such depth and still such airy and clean, with sexy feminine bright red berries, perfume, transcendental & lovely red flowers, roses, rose petals, dusty dry quarry minerals, touch of pencil lead, deeper dark cherries.
Layer after layer of incredible perfume and scents.
Best nose in a young wine I have ever experienced.
Palate just roars of an exceptional Grand Vin.
The transparency and lightness in combination with the power and depth are beyond words.
The silky fruit, the spicy stems, the fine oak, the femininity together with the power and flesh of the fruit, in combination with the airy and transparent roses and flowers, the acidity and minerallity is of a kind and combination that can’t be describe in words, but has to be experienced.
This is perfection in a bottle, almost alien, completely of the charts intoxicating.
Advanced, but still young, in a weird combination, showing youth but also development.
A wine that I would drink any day, from today until the end of time.
(100 – 100+)
