Sunday, January 24, 2016 - 17/20 from Jancis, figured this would be a steal at $19.99 from WTSO (FS on 4). From previous notes I gave this a little oven an hour in the decanter and got some nice baker's chocolate, earth, and cherry cordial as I poured into the decanter. That hour was not enough, and even the three glasses I had in the span of another hour and a half did not help to ease the tannic grip at all. It's definitely going to need more time. The tannins right now are very better and green, but do fade to a nice leathery-tobacco-forest floor finish as the astringency wears off.

Food and red sauce did help, which brought out some bright cherry with earthy iodine notes. Meat definitely helps the acidity peek through but the tannins completely dominate the wine at this point. There are some nice earthy complexity there but it's mostly the price tag that keep the overall evaluation at a B for now.
