Friday, December 15, 2006 - Stunning wine. I was looking very hard for even the slightest element of roasted or overripe fruit that I've found in many 2003s, and thanfully found none. The aromatics here are of a Grand Cru. Soaring red and some black fruit intermixed with tons of spices and a distinct airy floral character. The palate is generous today, but indicates a decent amount of reserve as well. I'd like the finish to be a little longer, but wouldn't be surprised if this didn't sweeten and even gain more weight in the cellar. This already shows great complexity and balance today.
