Wednesday, February 6, 2013 - After a couple of bad bottles, we're back on track. A fine bottle of aged merlot that offers twice the complexity for half the price. Good acidic spine allowed it to pair quite well with gnocchi and bolognese sauce. Lots of earthy character as well... a mushroom ragu would pair nicely. Certainly at its peak though needs a bit of air to blow off some funk. Throws tons of sediment so leave bottles upright for several days prior to opening and decant carefully.
