Friday, April 19, 2013 - Ruby red, just beginning to fade to brick at the edges. Nose is an explosion of red fruit (redcurrant, cassis), pepper, mushroom, forest floor, pencil lead and fresh farmyard smells. Hugely promising ! Unfortunately the promise of the bouquet does not carry through to the palate where initial sensation is first and foremost dry and dusty (rather than tannic). There is sweetness and fruit, but it's overwhelmed by the dryness, and the finish, though relatively long, is very tannic. Even after a couple of hours of breathing. Maybe leave for a year and try again.
