Thursday, November 21, 2013 - I am very surprised to get a lot of French oak on the nose and palate. Not that it doesn't work, just not at all typical for Puglian reds. The oak gives this 2010 some serious youth and vitality. The color is light, surprisingly clear purple. Nice violets on the nose with cherries and plums. Only medium bodied. Spicy red raspberry first across the lips, evolving to a richer cranberry further down. Things really start to integrate with some air and swirling. Not a big acid wine. Bark and black cherry finish.
