Community Tasting Note

Thursday, December 18, 2014 - I was so very excited to try this. The QPR seemed to be amazing (>95 points and under $100). I would guess that the scoring might be more based on the promise than on the wine itself today. There were a lot of flavors and after drinking a more muted Proper this felt pretty intense. It was very berry flavored - both black and red. It felt like it could be a great wine, but I didn't feel like the flavors really had come together. We've got some more of this and I think we might sit on them for another five years before popping the next.

12/19/2014 11:49:00 AM - I am holding almost all of my WA cab blends from 2007 to present, as I have been disappointed that they are still disjointed a bit, and with 2009 especially feeling a bit thin and the heat is noticeable. I haven't opened my CI, but the vintage in general needs time. Soon creek may be the exception. I find that WA Bordeaux blends taste best at about 9-10 years after vintage. The vintages have all been pretty good after 2005. The 1999 barely made 10 years on cabernet, but that was an exception not the rule.
