Sunday, February 17, 2013 - Pop and pour. I'm a little torn: nose is reticent, and very obviously CA pinot with the bright red fruits - cherries, strawberries, raspberries, some baking spices. The mouthfeel is excellent, velvety, clearly well-made. Tart red cherries, raspberries, vanilla, some spices, and a medium-long finish on the palate. I'm not ready to dismiss it yet...but the lack of acidity tells me that this won't really sing like some of the best Sonoma pinots of 2010. Maybe needs some more time in the bottle or glass to become more expressive...but right now, for $50 on release, this is a pass. The 2010 Kistler Sonoma Coast blew this out of the water.
