2010 Failla Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch

Community Tasting Note

90 Points

Wednesday, March 5, 2014 - Much better in its youth and by youth I mean on release. The nose is predictable RRV cinnamon and baking spices and ripe (candied??) strawberry. On the palate there was an artificial flavor aspect which I didn't like. The acidity and freshness this wine possessed on release was just nowhere to be found - now it feels big and clumsy. Disappointing prospects as I really loved this wine and this vineyard.

3/6/2014 9:31:00 AM - I slow ox'd in bottle for about 3-4 hours prior and we drank over 2 days. I've had this wine many times on release when it was very good - if you see back in 2010 I gave the wine 94pts. I bought a half case directly from Failla when these came out back in Feb '10. I've heard from other drinkers in my wine tasting group that the wines just don't age very well. I hope for my sake that the wine is going through a phase but for my tastes and judgement I just can't see it getting better or aging gracefully. Cheers.
