Tuesday, May 18, 2010 - From 375ml - popped and poured. Showing a strong influence of new wood on the nose, but this soon subsided to a more sensible array of black cherry, violets, and a touch of spice. I found this years Coda to be quite a contrast than previous vintages, which is no surprise given the free reign Ben Smith has on the cepage. This years entry was forward, somewhat sweet, a terrific core of cherry and espresso, but by no means cloying, or heavy. In fact, I would say this is rather light on its feet and very accessible for todays drinking. Again, a very good value from Cadecne.
